On February 21, 2023, the unitary enterprise "Mogilev branch of the BelCCI" organized a seminar on the topic "Sanctions and their impact on the execution of business contracts." The topic was covered by the Head of the Department of Legal Support and Digital Technologies of the BelCCI, member of the Presidium of the International Arbitration Court at the BelCCI, arbitrator, mediator, Master of Laws Vitaly Vabishchevich.
The seminar was held in a hybrid format. It was attended by representatives of legal and commercial services of 19 enterprises. Among them are Belshina OJSC, Mogilevkhimvolokno OJSC, Mogilevliftmash OJSC, Klimovichi Distillery OJSC, Integral OJSC, Grodno Glass Plant OJSC and others.
The listeners were informed about the sanctions and their legal significance for the performance of business contracts by Belarusian entities, the problems associated with the breach of obligations and legal mechanisms for their solution, specific recommendations were given on termination of obligations when there is an impossibility to fulfill the contract, which cannot be recognized as force majeure or a significant change circumstances. At the end of the seminar, participants asked questions from practice regarding sanctions and received detailed answers.
