A meeting of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus, Alireza Sanei, and Belarusian business circles was held at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Opening the meeting, Deputy Chairman of BelCCI Denis Meleshkin thanked the Ambassador for supporting the Chamber's proposal to organize the meeting in this format. "Events like this are very important for businesses. Iran is a strategic partner of the country, and companies have a real interest and specific proposals for developing cooperation and implementing joint projects," Deputy Head of BelCCI said.
To confirm this, there was an extremely high interest from businesses in the event: representatives of around 170 Belarusian companies from industrial production, engineering, woodworking, light and food industries, trade and investments, transportation and logistics, medicine and pharmaceuticals, and banking participated in the meeting in person and online. Many companies are already working with Iranian partners and had submitted questions to the Embassy related to payments, logistics organization, visa issues, and expanding the geography of supplies.
"I am confident that during the plenary part of the event and B2D negotiations, answers will be found to many existing questions," Denis Meleshkin noted.
Speaking about the dynamics of the Belarus-Iran trade turnover, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted the good potential for further development and diversification of the import and export of goods and services, cooperation in the fields of exchange of experience, transfer of technology and energy engineering. The free trade agreement signed at the end of last year, as well as the abolition of visas for Belarusian citizens, should be incentives to unlock the potential.
Denis Meleshkin also spoke about cooperation with the Iranian side through chambers of commerce and industry, including at the regional level, noting that business associations are ready to provide Belarusian and Iranian businesses with comprehensive support in a wide range of areas.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy Alireza Seihoon presented the meeting participants with the economic potential and opportunities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, information on current and promising areas of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
At the end of the plenary part of the event, separate meetings were held in B2D format between the heads of Belarusian enterprises and representatives of the Iranian Embassy.
